World Elder Abuse Awareness Day - June 15 2007
Did you know that in the UK alone 500 000 older people suffer some form of abuse? Research in America suggests that for every 1 case reported another 5 goes unnoticed.
This isn’t right.
The purpose of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is to draw attention to the abuse and silent suffering. Ultimately we need to ensure there is more protection for vulnerable older people. Older people should be treated with dignity and respect.
At Southern Cross Healthcare we will be joining other organisations around the world that are holding events that day.
We are encouraging as many of our Care Centres as possible to support this day and raise both awareness and funds for a cause which is so important to our company, our staff and our service users.
Keep an eye on our website to find out more about our plans for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
